479 Miles in a PW-5

To me, flying a sailplane down wind is a lot like skiing down hill (a powerful natural force is pushing you along). I have made more than 1000 glider flights and flown in over 100 contests, but nothing in soaring has been more memorable and fun than flying long flights downwind. Of course, there are concerns, for many details are involved in a successful, long, down wind flight.

I have always loved to travel by car. I can study the landscape, the flowers, the birds, the wildlife and I see some awesome sunsets, so in that respect Bill really lucked out!
