479 Miles in a PW-5 By Bill Snead To me, flying a sailplane down wind is a lot like skiing down hill (a powerful natural force is pushing you along). I have made more than 1000 glider flights and flown in over 100 contests, but nothing in soaring has been more memorable and fun than flying long flights downwind. Of course, there are concerns, for many details are involved in a successful, long, down wind flight. |

From the crew’s view By Nancy Snead I have always loved to travel by car. I can study the landscape, the flowers, the birds, the wildlife and I see some awesome sunsets, so in that respect Bill really lucked out! |
