A FEW WORDS ON THE WORLD CLASS SOARING ASSOCIATION

The International Gliding Commission (IGC) created the World Class to provide a safe and affordable single-design glider to support one-design competitions with the ultimate aim of carrying our sport to the Olympics. After a multi-year and rigorous process, IGC selected the PW-5 as the official World-Class glider, thereby instituting the first FAI-approved monotype soaring class for international racing. Created by Warsaw University of Technology, the PW-5 features fiberglass construction, benign flight characteristics, 32.5 performance, and 13.5m wings. The university licenses the design to any company wanting to manufacture the PW-5. Manufacturers may not alter the geometry or weight of the aircraft.
